John “Mad Dog” Mytton (1796-1834) was an eccentric English Squire who served simultaneously as a Member of Parliament and an officer of the 7th Hussars. He had a reputation as a playboy and was reputed to drink eight bottles of Port per day. His death at the grand old age of 37 is not a good advert for excess.
