Port And Sherry: The Story Of Two Fine Wines by George G. Sandeman & Sons (1955)

8F54ACC8-183B-4E61-AFB4-52AD5DB91C76-256

Published in 1955 by the house of Sandeman, this is early version of the sort of book that Quinta do Vesuvio might put in their cases of vintage port today. A revised and enlarged addition was published in 1972 under the title The House of Sandeman: A Story of Fine Wines and Spirits.

Nice to have, but basic in terms of detail and more a promotional item than a serious publication.

Michael Broadbent’s Vintage Wine (2002)

04BC3F13-58FD-4E18-A449-D0E7311D4340-256This volume superseded the author’s similar earlier works under the title The Great Vintage Wine Book.

A fantastic big book with thousands of tasting notes on almost every vintage wine you can think of. The vintage port tasting notes on pages 449 to 494 are amongst the most well read and frequently visited pages in my collection of books.

You’ve just got to have one of these!
