The title says it all. This is a large format and very well made book and makes a nice shelf partner to The History of Champagne by the same author.

Hillaire Belloc (1870-1953) was a soldier in the French artillery who went on to become President of the Oxford Union, a travel writer, historian, poet, Member of Parliament, yachtsman, and was accused of being an anti-Semitic Nazi despite the fact that many of his writings condemned fascism and German anti-Semitism.
This book was based on a letter he wrote in 1935 to a friend on the occasion of her marriage somewhat patronisingly entitled “advice on wine, food and other matters”.
An interesting oddity.

A series of short stories and articles related to wine.
This is one of a series of at least 14 volumes. After reading this one I did not feel inclined to purchase the other 13 but those who enjoy fiction might have a different opinion.
